Mike and I have had the privilege of attending the annual Right to Life pastor's dinners and Rallies for the past several years. There is always a very good speaker at the meeting held on Sunday evening.
This year the speaker was Kenny McCaughey (pronounced like McCoy), who is the father of the septuplets (7 babies) in Iowa. At the beginning of the pregnancy the doctors had to advise the McCaugheys of their options, which included "selective reduction" of the babies to allow for the possible better growth of those remaining. Of course, Kenny and Bobbi refused to abort any of their babies and God has supported them in raising their children. The kids are now 10 years old and doing well!
It gives us joy to see this family who is being so blessed by God because of their obedience to His commandment, "Thou shall not kill." Please pray for continued care of this sweet family.
We do not believe in abortion. If a person is not able to parent, the loving option is to give life to the baby and place him or her for adoption. There will be grief, but not the horrible guilt and grief associated with ending your baby's life.
Birth parents choose the family they want to have adopt their baby and can have photos and updates and even have visits with the child over the years if they want to. The adoption agency helps the birth and adoptive parents agree on the level of contact they are comfortable with. In this way the birth parents can feel good about their choice for their child, knowing that he or she is well, happy and loved. It's also good for the child to be able to know that their birth parents love him and have that connection. We know from personal experience that it's also good for the adoptive parents.
We must stand behind our convictions. We can no longer be silent. God bless us all and help us stand strong as a Christ based nation.
